I had the privilege of hearing Dr. Lockridge at Glorieta, N.M. when I was 10 years old. He preached on the 23rd Psalm, and I remember being surprised and deeply affected by his high-voltage verbal drumming of the text. “The LORD is my shepHERD…. I shall not want!!! It made me realize that deep emotion and extravagant expression is not only acceptable but fitting when proclaiming God's word.
